Right Before I left for Cali

Right before I left I wanted to do special things with my close family and friends. The weekend before I left I went to a family reunion on my Mom's side of the family which was in Marion OH. Right before that is when I got most of my packing done. I purchased space-bags...which are pretty much a super cool invention. It fit all the clothes I needed to take into my little car. Here is a picture of a space bag before I sucked all the air out:

Here is a picture after I sucked the air out:

A picture of a bunch of stuff that needed to go into my car. But that's not even half of what I got to fit in there:):

When I was packing the day before we were leaving for the family reunion my Mom called me up and said "Jess you have got to come up here they are having an amazing shoe sale!". I told my Mom I was busy packing. She called me again and said "Its truly amazing...60% off!". So I went up there to check it out and ended up getting a few shoes. One in particular were a pair of black Jessica Simpson's that were so beautiful. See below:

My baby Zoe was with me in my room the whole time I was packing. She looked to cute looking at me. I felt bad because she had no idea what was going on. She has moved with me like three times and so she doesn't think anything of packing stuff up. She probably thought I was going on a short trip and I would be right back. I already miss her so much. Shes my pooch! Cant wait to see her when I get back for Xmas. Hopefully she wont forget who her Mommy is! Here is a pic of her resting her head on my lap when I was sitting on the floor folding clothes:

So back to the family reunion subject... It was good to spend some extra time with my Mom. It was also good to visit with my cousins once we got there. Another little thing that was very cool was that I got to see my long lost friend Amanda. Amanda was my best friend from when I was born until when I was about eight. Her and I would play together from dawn until dusk. Our favorite game was to play with our my little ponies. We had two big boxes of them in all sorts of colors. I have some good memories with Amanda when I grew up in Ohio. Amanda has grown to be a really good artist. She can draw and paint some very artistic pieces. She eventually became a tattoo artist and has been doing that for the last three years. I have been wanting to get the holy spirit dove tattoo for the longest time. I always thought it would be so freakin cool if I had her do it for me because #1 she's good and #2 it would mean so much more if she did it over any random tattoo shop. So I called her up and she was excited to do it for me. We got to hang out in the shop, eat lunch, and chat a bit before and after my tattoo. It was really good to see her. A picture of my new tattoo is below:

On my way back to the city where the my family was staying I saw a pretty old building\shed thing that I thought looked cool so I stopped to take a picture:

I got to see Amanda and she did my tattoo on Friday and then the next day (Saturday) was the actually family reunion. Thursday and Sunday were pretty much travel days the entire days...and yes we went by plane...it was a crazy trip but its ok. So anyway, Saturday I got to see all my cousins that work at the college in LA so that was really cool. A few of my favorite cousins on my Moms side; Tarrin & Dustin... live in AZ and didn't get to come this year so that was a bummer. Also my cousin Maria which is from PA but in LA right now for school didn't get to come. I guess that's what I get for skipping out on the reunion last time.

When I got back into Wichita it was right around 5:30pm Sunday night. I was so excited to go to my Grandma's house (on my Dads side). She was having a big dinner for all of us at her house. I thought it was pretty neat because I got to see all of them before I left. My Grandma is so wonderful and is such a strong, caring, and giving woman...I look up to her in so many ways.

The next night was Monday night and my night to say good bye to my best friends. Jamie and Asha had planned to take me out to dinner and I was super excited but at the same time a little sad because I knew it would be the last time I would see them in a while. Our good friend Maggie got to come as well which was awesome, shes super nice. So they took me to dinner at Sumo and then we went back to my house. We all had gifts for each other which was so cute. I got Asha and Jamie little frames from things remembered that said "Friends" on them and had a little saying. Then on the corner of the frame is a little heart that i had engraved "love, jess". Asha got me this hilarious little book about girlfriends. Its pictures of women for the 1940's and then the words are them gossiping. Its pretty funny and she wrote me a cute little note in there. Jamie got me a little notepad holder for my purse with my name on it and also a large white frame that says friends on it and engraved it says "I will miss you". The picture is my favorite picture of us. Its from when we were 19 and we were on our way to Worlds of Fun in the car. Then I showed the girls a little slideshow I put together for them of pictures of us. The whole night was really sweet. Here's a picture of me and the girls on our last night:

The next night was Tuesday night, the night before I left. This was family night. My Mom, Dad, Danny, Jenni, and the kids. We all hung out and had pizza. I got me parents a heart box that said "blessed to have parents like you" then I showed them the family slideshow I put together. My brother and I gave my Dad the present we got him for his B-day. His B-day wasn't for another 3 weeks but we decided to do it early since I was leaving. We got him an ipod. Then my Mom gave me a GPS....which I didn't know at the time that it would be my bestest friend ever! I definitely have to use it all the time. It was an emotional night for me because I knew how much I was going to miss everyone. I cried alot and hugged alot. The next morning my car was all packed and I was heading down the road. The picture below is of me in my car and the kids with me saying goodbye:

I can NOT believe you bought more shoes! You're sick, girl! I think this calls for an intervention. LOL!

I may write a post linking to your post about the house. I hope you'll write more about living in the Higher Ground Household. It's such a wonderful and exciting opportunity and I'm so glad you get to do it.
